Chanel Maya Banks, known for 'Gossip Girl,' goes missing

Chanel Maya Banks, an actress best known for her role as Sawyer Bennett, Jenny Humphrey’s friend in Gossip Girl, has been reported missing. According to U.S. media outlets, the 36-year-old actress was last heard from on October 30, and since then, her whereabouts remain unknown.

Banks, who lived in the Playa Vista area of Los Angeles with her husband, was the subject of a search operation after two welfare checks by authorities failed to locate her. Her family, concerned by her sudden disappearance, entered her apartment and discovered her belongings and dog still there.

Her cousin, Danielle-Tori Singh, flew in from Canada to aid in the search and expressed suspicion that Banks’ husband may be involved. Singh told local media, "Five days without hearing from my cousin is red flags and alarm bells. She doesn’t go more than 48 hours without speaking to me or her mom."

Singh also noted that Banks' husband has been uncooperative, saying, "He’s not willing to help LAPD. He’s not willing to help me or her mom find her. He is removing flyers off of posts and cars."

In addition to Gossip Girl, Banks has appeared in Blue Bloods and the film Twelve, starring alongside 50 Cent and Emma Roberts.
