- Robert Downey Jr. spoke against the use of AI to recreate him.
- He issued a clear warning to the industry.
- He would take legal action against any future executives.
“I will sue all future executives,” Downey declared when discussing the possibility of being digitally replicated. He explained his feelings about AI, saying, “There’s two tracks. How do I feel about everything that’s going on? I feel about it minimally because I have an actual emotional life that’s occurring that doesn’t have a lot of room for that.”
Downey also addressed his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying he wasn’t concerned about anyone misusing his character. “I am not worried about them hijacking my character’s soul because there’s like three or four guys and gals who make all the decisions there anyway and they would never do that to me, with or without me.”
When Swisher noted that “future executives certainly will” want to digitally replicate him, Downey responded, “I intend to sue all future executives just on spec.” Swisher joked, “You’ll be dead,” to which he replied, “But my law firm will still be very active.”
Downey’s comments reflect ongoing concerns about the role of AI in the entertainment industry.
