Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff, Lt Gen Aviv Kochavi, went to the quarantine, along with two of his senior commanders.

The army said that the chief of staff went into isolation after a senior commander they met tested positive for coronavirus.

The news came out amid Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his closed advisors were sent into isolation as an aide on Parliament affairs tested positive for Covid-19.

Lt Gen Kochavi, along with Home Front Command head Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai and Operations Directorate Commander Gen. Aharon Haliva had conducted a meeting 10 days ago. A commander in the reserves was also present at the meeting, he was diagnosed positive.

The international news agency said that the commander, who was diagnosed positive, is the head of the Home Front Command’s liaison unit to local authorities in Bnei Brak, an ultra-Orthodox Tel Aviv suburb where there are 508 confirmed cases of coronavirus.

The number of cases in the ultra-Orthodox community has doubled within four days.

The army stated, “Kochavi feels well, is not displaying symptoms, and will soon be tested for the virus”.

International news stated that total lockdown has been imposed in Israel, people are only allowed to go out for food essentials.

There are 4,831 Israelis that have tested positive for coronavirus, with 161 recoveries. In addition to this, over 18 people have died and 83 are in critical condition.
