Lahore: In a candid and revealing interview, veteran actress Shaista Jabeen has shared personal details about her life and career. She disclosed that despite her long-standing presence in the entertainment industry, her family has never fully accepted her as an actress.
Jabeen explained that her journey into acting was not by design. She had always wanted to be a news anchor, but she "accidentally" became an actress. During a college visit to a television station, a producer offered her a role due to her natural beauty, which she had to decline at the time due to family pressures.
The actress also spoke openly about the negative stereotypes women in her profession face. She noted that people often assume female artists are "too free-spirited" and have a lot of affairs, which she says is far from the truth.
Jabeen revealed that no one in her family has any connection to the entertainment world, and she believes no one will in the future. "My family is very conservative," she said, adding that even after all her years of work, they have not accepted her career choice. She did not, however, specify which family members hold this view.
This glimpse into her life shows the personal challenges and societal pressures that artists often endure behind the scenes.
