Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah on Thursday ordered authorities of Sindh government to distribute ration bags to the needy as the province takes measures to battle the coronavirus.
The sources said that this decision was taken in a high-level meeting held at the CM House.
The chief minister briefed the meeting about the measures taken to contain further spread of COVID-19.

He said, “With the closure of malls, restaurants or what it is being termed as partial lockdown, we have tried to slow down the spread so that necessary arrangements for establishing Isolation centers and field hospitals could be made accordingly.”
CM Sindh also said said that during the first phase and the first month, ration bags will be distributed to the needy people.
He added the bags – consisting of rice, flour, sugar, oil, tea, milk, spices and three types of daal – worth Rs 2 million will be distributed to those who are in need.

Sindh govt to convert Expo Karachi into isolation center
According to the details, Corps Commander Karachi Lt Gen. Humayun Aziz appreciated the timely efforts of the provincial government and emphasised the need to provide ration to the daily wagers and poor segments of society.
The CM said that he has already held a number of meetings with philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to seek their help and guidance for the preparation of ration bags.
