The Youth Affairs Ministry announced on Saturday that registration for Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ‘Corona Relief Tigers’ team will begin from March 31.

According to the Youth Affairs Ministry, citizens would be able to work as volunteers (Corona Relief Tigers) for the force through the PM Office portal by filling out a digital form.

“Those interested will have to provide their name, age, phone number and union council on the form to register for the force. Only those above the age of 18 can register for the force,” the ministry said, and the registration will close on April 10.

The volunteers from each UC would be assigned with task of delivering food to the homes of the most affected people of society amid coronavirus..

“Members of any party can register to volunteer. These volunteers will work under the deputy commissioners of each district. In case of a lockdown, the force will distribute food and also identify those hoarding,” the ministry added

The relief force will also monitor suspected people at various quarantine centers across the country, the ministry added.

On Friday 27 March Prime Minister Imran Khan announced the launch of the youth force (Corona Relief Tigers). He said this force will lead the fight against coronavirus in Pakistan.

“Recruitment for corona relief tigers will formally begin on March 31. We are calling upon all volunteers,” the PM said during a media .

More than 1,400 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Pakistan so far, with Punjab surpassing Sindh as the most-affected province in the country with 490 confirmed cases thus far.

12 deaths have been reported so far from the novel coronavirus in the country. All provinces in Pakistan have issued lockdown order to prevent the spread of virus.
