A violent clash between doctors and lawyers has intensified as a rally attended by hundreds of lawyers stormed Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) in Lahore and Information Minister Punjab Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan has been thrashed

The lawyers who attacked PIC also tortured information and culture minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan as he reached the spot to settle down the ongoing dispute.

The lawyers grabbed Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan  and subjected him to violence. Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan was taken from his head and was beaten by the lawyers.

His videos of getting tortured and violence spread like a fire on social media platforms and TV channels.

The Minister asked the police for help but nobody came to rescue him from the lawyers.However, after a while, the lawyers released Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan.

Talking to the reporters, Chohan said: “An attempt was made for his abduction,” He said “strict action would be taken against the lawyers who did all this.”

While talking to Media, Chohan said that he has arrived in PIC hospital to temper down the tensed situation but was brutally tortured and beaten by some people. He also said that they also attempted to kidnap him. The minister said he was there to resolve the issue but the lawyers misbehaved with him which was very shameful.

Earlier, the tensed situation at the hospital spread fear among the patients when lawyers started attacking the PIC assets after raising slogans in different wards and some people entered into the operation theatres which led to the stoppage of the scheduled surgeries of cardiac patients.

Six patients have so far died after the protest turned violent. The lawyers broke windows of the emergency ward and several vehicles parked nearby.

A group of doctors and lawyers started pelting stones at each other in which four people sustained wounds. The paramedics and physicians were seen making attempts to run out of the hospital premises in order to save their lives.

Police at first exchanged harsh words to clear out the dispute. Later, as the police appeared helpless in resisting the charged lawyers, resorted to tear-gas shelling to disperse them.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident and has sought an initial report immediately. Buzdar stated that nobody was above the Law and such incident in the medical facility for heart patients was unbearable.

Senior lawyer Aitazaz ul Hassan condemned the event and said ‘today our heads are bowed due to shame’. He said that lawyers should have protected the provincial minister instead of beating him. He said he is deeply saddened by this event. Chohan was present there only to mediate between the lawyers and doctors.

Imran takes notice of incident at Punjab Institute of Cardiology

Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of the incident at Punjab Institute of Cardiology in Lahore.

He has asked Chief Secretary and Inspector General Police of Punjab to submit a report of the incident.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan says those taking law into their hands will be brought to justice.

In a series of tweets on, she said torturing minister Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan, vandalism, strife and harassing patients is condemnable act and regrettable. Firdous Ashiq Awan said lawlessness cannot in the country will never be tolerated at all.
