New news disclosed about Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP)!

Many affluent officers of federal and provincial governments were getting benefits from the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).

It was revealed that government officers designated from 17 to 21 grade were also receiving help from BISP. Several officials have registered their wives’ names in the BISP.

The names of over 2,543 officers were excluded from the list of applicants taking aid from BISP. Most of the officers belonged to Sindh and Baluchistan.

Three officers of grade 21 and 59 officers of grade 20 kept receiving monthly stipends under BISP. Whereas 429 officers of grade 29 also used to receive a monthly stipend.

Over 342 officers of grade 18 from Sindh also took full advantage of this programme. Apart from that, six officers of BISP enjoyed the scheme as well. Above all, around 1,240 officers of grade 17 kept receiving a regular monthly stipend from the Benazir Income Support Programme.

Actions are being taken to remove ineligible people from the programme.

Given that special assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar had addressed a press conference in December in which she announced that the government has decided to eliminate 820,165 people from the programme.

She said, “Those having ownership of a car or paying telephone bills up to Rs1000 will be declared ineligible for the programme’s registration.”
