Educational Institutions in Sindh reopened  on Wednesday after winter vacations, however, many schools and colleges witnessed low attendance.

Due to severe cold wave the attendance in majority of schools is low, while teachers in some schools are also absent from their duties.

Sindh education secretary Ahsan Ali Mangi rejected rumors extending winter vacations for schools.

He said Tuesday is the last day of holidays as per schedule.

Ahsan Ali Mangi, clarified no extension  in winter vacations for the educational institutions.

On December 19, the Sindh Education and Literacy Department announced all public, private education institutions closed for winter vacations from December 20 to December 31, 2019.

Sindh government also issued the notification.

It said all the educational institutes will reopen on January 1, 2020 (Friday).

All schools, colleges, public or private, under the Education Department will reopen on January 1, read the notification.

Earlier, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Department for Schools Education extended duration for winter vacations till Jan 7th 2020.

The step taken  owing to an increase in the coldness across the province.

According to a notification, the schools across KPK would reopen on January 7, 2020, instead of January 1.

KP Education Minister Ziaullah Bangash said the winter vacations extended due to the lingering impact of winter persisting across the province.

Director Schools Balochistan said vacations extended in cold areas of province due to the increase in coldness.

According to the notification, schools across cold areas of Balochistan would reopen on January 10, 2020, instead of 1st January.
