ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to announce a nationwide Educational Emergency, extending to Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, for the upcoming four years.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to officially declare the emergency.

A conference led by the Federal Ministry of Education is scheduled for tomorrow to initiate the implementation of the Educational Emergency.

The conference, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will see the participation of all provincial chief ministers.

Additionally, the government has proposed a significant increase in the educational budget, from 0.5 to 5.0 percent, over the next four years.

The Federal Minister for Education disclosed that approximately 26 million children in Pakistan are currently not attending school, affirming the government's commitment to enrolling nine million of these children within the next four years.

It's worth noting that Federal Minister for Education Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui had previously urged the prime minister to declare an educational emergency in the country.
