Heat waves will continue to affect Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and most regions of Pakistan this week, with daytime temperatures likely to be 4 to 6°C above normal.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), central air is ruling most parts of Pakistan, with high pressure in the upper atmosphere likely to persist throughout the week.
Consequently, heat waves will continue in the twin cities and across much of the country on Thursday and the remaining days of the week.
Islamabad's maximum temperatures are likely to range between 41-43°C on Thursday and Friday. In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperatures are predicted to be between 40-42°C on Thursday and 41-43°C on Friday.
Meanwhile, hot and dry weather conquered in the twin cities and much of the country over the past 24 hours. Mohenjo-Daro was the warmest location in the country, recording an extreme temperature of 49°C.
Maximum temperatures in Sibbi and Jacobabad reached 48°C, and in Larkana, Kot Addu, Khairpur, and Dadu, it was 47°C. Other hot spots included Turbat, Rohri, Rahim Yar Khan, Noor Pur Thal, Okara, Shaheed Benazirabad, Lasbella, Kasur, and Bhakkar, all recording 46°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C, with morning relative humidity at 40 percent.
