Karachi is preparing for heavy rainfall today due to a powerful new monsoon system approaching the city, as announced by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Thursday.

The system is currently located 290 kilometers away and is expected to bring significant downpours between 2 PM and 8 PM, raising concerns about possible urban flooding.

This morning, Karachi recorded a minimum temperature of 26°C, with high humidity levels reaching 90%. As the day continues, temperatures are expected to rise to around 30 °C.

However, the city's weather is likely to take a dramatic turn as the monsoon system strengthens.

PMD Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz has warned about the potential for urban flooding in the port city, urging residents to exercise caution.

He also mentioned that wind thunderstorms could accompany the rainfall, with scattered heavy to isolated very heavy falls predicted in various parts of the city.

Karachi residents are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions as the weather conditions evolve.

As the monsoon system intensifies, the city braces for a challenging day ahead, with authorities and citizens closely monitoring the situation.
