ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has asked the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) to postpone its protest being held in Islamabad on October 4 (tomorrow) as foreign dignitaries are present in the federal capital.
He said this while addressing a press conference, here on Thursday along with Islamabad’s Inspector General Ali Nasir Rizvi.
Naqvi said that the situation for Islamabad's administration is very sensitive at this time as the prime minister of Malaysia is currently present in the capital and a Saudi high delegation is also coming shortly and following these visits, there would be SCO Summit in Islamabad.
He further said that the law and order situation is very complex and at this time protest call has been given by the PTI that is not appropriate for the country.
The minister said that the PTI is a political party and its plan to protest in the federal capital is not good for the country, adding that however, the government has finalized its all arrangements.
Naqvi warned that there would be no leniency with anyone, who would try to disturb the peaceful environment in the capital, adding that it is mandatory to take NOC for a public rally.
He added that Section 144 has been imposed in the city whereas a head of state is already in the capital and on the other hand, PTI intended to protest there.
He asserted that they had arrested some people, who were planning to protest with clubs, stones and slings, which were recovered from their possession. “You all should watch because a peaceful protest is not like that. The police will not back down under any circumstances,” he warned.
He said that the administration could only try to have a normal life in Islamabad. For which they would do whatever is necessary.
