Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to leave for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Monday to attend the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai, according to the Foreign Office (FO).
His two-day official visit, scheduled from February 10 to 11, comes at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
The summit will bring together heads of state, global policymakers, and key private sector figures to discuss the future of governance, innovation, and international cooperation, the FO spokesperson said on Sunday.
With over 30 heads of state and delegates from 140 countries, the World Government Summit 2025 is taking place in Dubai from February 11 to 13. This marks PM Shehbaz’s second visit to the UAE since assuming office in March 2024.
He will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and other key cabinet members, reflecting Pakistan’s strong commitment to deepening ties with the UAE and global partners.
During his visit, the Prime Minister will deliver a keynote address, outlining Pakistan’s vision for inclusive economic growth, digital transformation, and governance reforms. He will also hold bilateral meetings with the UAE leadership, engage with heads of state and government from participating countries, and meet top CEOs of multinational companies.
The Foreign Office emphasized that Pakistan and the UAE share a strong, brotherly relationship built on mutual trust, understanding, and long-standing cooperation.
The UAE remains one of Pakistan’s key economic and strategic partners, with strong collaboration across multiple sectors. The Pakistani diaspora in the UAE, the second-largest Pakistani expatriate community in the world, continues to play a crucial role in strengthening the bond between the two nations.
The Prime Minister’s visit highlights Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing its ties with the UAE, fostering greater economic collaboration, and exploring new opportunities for mutual prosperity, the spokesperson added.
