The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has predicted that the Ramazan moon is likely to be sighted on March 1, with the first fast expected on March 2.
However, the final decision regarding the moon sighting will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Ramazan Moon Sighting Details
A SUPARCO spokesperson stated that the Ramazan moon will be born on February 28 at 5:45 PM. However, by sunset on the same day, the moon will be only 12 hours old, making it difficult to sight due to its low altitude and distance.
Additionally, on February 28, the angular distance between the moon and the sun will be seven degrees, making it impossible to see with the naked eye. Therefore, the Ramazan crescent is expected to be visible on March 1, marking the start of fasting on March 2, 2025.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia is expected to begin Ramazan a day earlier, with the first fast likely on March 1.
Eid-ul-Fitr Expected on March 31
According to SUPARCO, the Shawwal moon is expected to be sighted on March 30, meaning Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 could fall on March 31. However, the final announcement will also be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
