Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt and responded decisively to a cross-border assault by militants in the Kurram and North Waziristan regions, according to sources.

As per security reports, a group of 20 to 25 Khawarij, collaborating with the Afghan Taliban, launched an unprovoked attack on Pakistani posts using heavy weaponry earlier in the day.

In a swift and effective operation, Pakistani forces not only foiled the infiltration attempt but also launched a strong counteroffensive.

Initial reports indicate that over 15 militants, including Afghan Taliban fighters, were killed, while several others sustained injuries. The operation also forced the Afghan Taliban to vacate six border posts, resulting in significant losses on their side.

Preliminary assessments suggest substantial damage and potential additional casualties on the Afghan side. Despite the intensity of the conflict, Pakistan's security forces reported no deaths and only three personnel injured.

This development occurs amidst a rise in terrorist attacks within Pakistan, particularly in the KP and Balochistan provinces, since the Afghan Taliban assumed interim control in Kabul. These regions, bordering Afghanistan, have seen a surge in violence targeting security personnel.

Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul to prevent its territory from being used as a launchpad for terrorist activities against Pakistan.
