Schools and colleges in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will observe three consecutive holidays from October 4 to October 6. The city administrations of both cities declared Friday, October 4, as a holiday for all educational institutions due to a protest organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) against proposed constitutional amendments.
To prevent protesters from gathering at D-chowk, authorities have blocked several roads and intersections, leading to significant traffic congestion across the cities. Roads closed using containers include:
- Red Zone, Islamabad (completely sealed)
- Faizabad
- Sector I-8
- IJ Principal Road
- Margalla Road
- Murree Road
- Islamabad Expressway
- Sangjani
- Sector G-11 Chowk
- Golra Mor
- 26 Number Chowki
With Friday's official holiday followed by the regular weekend break on Saturday and Sunday, schools will reopen on Monday, October 7, after three consecutive days off.
