A deeply disturbing story has emerged from the outskirts of Quetta, where a couple—reportedly from the Brahui tribes—was brutally killed, allegedly on the orders of a local tribal jirga. While official reports from the police claim no such incident has been registered, a short video has surfaced, shedding chilling light on the tragedy.
In the video, a man and woman can be heard speaking in the Brahui language. The woman, calm and defiant in her final moments, says: “Only a bullet is allowed, nothing else.” According to sources, she was responding to the killers' offer of compensation or blood money (diyat) in exchange for sparing her life. She refused, choosing death over dishonor.
The incident is believed to have taken place in the mountainous regions of Marwar or Degari, where tribal customs often override formal law. Local sources reveal that the couple had fallen in love across hostile Brahui tribal lines, and their marriage—reportedly a love marriage—sparked tension and resentment between the two factions.
In many such tribal communities around Quetta, jirgas continue to pass extrajudicial verdicts. In this case, a jirga is said to have ordered the execution of the couple. Although some members among the killers reportedly suggested alternative punishments or financial compensation, the woman firmly rejected them in her last words, insisting that only death was acceptable.
The murdered couple has not yet been formally identified, but the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has reportedly been approached to help confirm their identities.
This heinous act stands as a grave violation of human dignity and social values. It reflects not just a personal tragedy, but a societal failure to protect basic human rights, especially the right to love, choose, and live freely.
