Vassos is from Rockland, Maryland, and works in alumni relations at the Landon School. She earned her bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Maryland. Vassos first appeared on "The Golden Bachelor" but left during week three to be with her family.
Vassos was married to her husband, John, for 32 years until he passed away from pancreatic cancer in January 2021. She has four children—Allison, Nicholas, Erica, and Luke—and two grandchildren. Her reason for leaving "The Golden Bachelor" was to support her daughter, who was experiencing postpartum depression.
Despite leaving the show early, Vassos expressed interest in returning to pursue a relationship with Turner. She was unable to come back due to timing issues. On Instagram, she shared that family comes first and thanked everyone for their support.
Vassos has remained close friends with many of the women from "The Golden Bachelor." They have reunited multiple times, including for an episode of "Celebrity Family Feud." Vassos has shared many moments with her Golden Bachelor friends on social media.
As the first "Golden Bachelorette," Vassos is excited to continue her journey to find love. The new show will air on Wednesdays for an hour and a half, starting this fall.
