At least 70 people died in three days due to severe cold, rain related incidents,landsliding nd avalanche over fifteen villages of Neelum valley, AJK.
Media reports cited The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA)’s official statement.
It said an increase in the death toll is anticipated by the authority.
According to NDMA, rains in Baluchistan have claimed 15 lives and have injured 11 others. At least 55 deaths and 12 injured have been reported in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
In Neelam valley, 19 people have died in an avalanche while 10 others are still missing. According to NDMA, four injured have been rescued while work is currently under way to rescue the remaining people.
Major thoroughfares in Baluchistan, including Bolan Road, Khanozai Road and Quetta-Chaman Road have been closed for the time being, the statement said, adding that the most snowfall recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province was at Lowari Approach Road at a whopping 23 inches.
Emergency Declared In Baluchistan Due To Heavy Rain, Snowfall
On the other hand, Chief Minister Baluchistan Jam Kamal Khan visited Quetta and other areas, and extended his condolences on the demise of people.
He instructed the authorities to give access to the disconnected areas.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Bazdar called Jamal Kamal Khan and expressed his regret over the loss of valuable lives and also offered all kind of assistance to the Balochistan government.
Land sliding and snowfall in Azad Kashmir killed 10 people, injured 12, damaged 23 buildings and destroyed three vehicles.
The land contact between Neelum and Leepa Valley also disconnected.
While over six feet of snow has fallen over the mountains.
One girl killed and seven others injured when a roof collapsed in Sukkur.
A roof also fell owing to the rains in Jhang, in which a girl died and two people injured.
Two girls killed in Khanewal as well.
