In a recent press briefing, former U.S. President Donald Trump once again brought up the long-standing Kashmir conflict between Pakistan and India. He reiterated his offer to mediate the issue and claimed, “I can solve any problem.”

Trump called the Kashmir dispute a “core conflict” that has persisted for years between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. He stated that he has already told both countries that he is willing to bring them together at the table to resolve the matter.

With this renewed offer, Trump has once again brought the Kashmir issue into the international spotlight. His comments, however, have triggered a wave of criticism in India, where any foreign involvement in the Kashmir issue is often met with strong resistance.

Trump’s mention of the ceasefire and Kashmir during his latest press interaction has been perceived by many in India as rubbing salt in old wounds. His remarks have intensified the ongoing debate about international mediation in South Asia’s most sensitive conflict.
