Nicki Minaj pulls out of Saudi Arabia concert after backlash

Nicki Minaj has canceled her concert in Saudi Arabia. Citing her support for the rights of women and the LGBT community.

Nicki Minaj is pulling out of a concert in Saudi Arabia because she says she wants to show support for women’s rights, gay rights and freedom of expression.

According to the Nicki Minaj Statement to Associated Press After careful reflection I have decided to no longer move forward with my scheduled concert at Jeddah World Fest. While I want nothing more than to bring my show to fans in Saudi Arabia, after better educating myself on the issues, I believe it is important for me to make clear my support for the rights of women, the LGBTQ community and freedom of expression,”

According to the details, Nikki Manaj canceled the concurrent concert itself on July 18 in Jeddah.

Minaj, known for her profanity-laced lyrics and raunchy music videos, was due to perform as headline act of the festival as the kingdom loosens its decades-old restrictions on entertainment
