ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced a further delay in Punjab polls citing that the commission would not be able to conduct polls in April and has announced October 8 as the revised date of Punjab polls.

Without citing reason for the delay, ECP said that the conduct of the free and fair elections on April 30 is not possible.

Though it was reiterated that all political parties were demanding polls on the same date.

The development was not welcomed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Chairman Imran Khan’s lawyer Azhar Siddique on Thursday wrote a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), urged to withdraw the decision of delaying elections in Punjab.

Advocate Azhar Siddique in his letter said that the decision to postpone elections is against the constitution and the move falls under the category of contempt of court.
