M1 Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway Toll Rates Updated for October 2024
ISLAMABAD: Road travel on the M1, M4, and M5 motorways has become more costly as the National Highway Authority (NHA) announced a toll tax hike of up to 30% effective from October 1, 2024.
The updated toll charges will significantly affect travel expenses on these routes. According to the latest notification, the toll for cars on the M1 Motorway has risen from Rs 350 to Rs 460.
For those traveling on the M3 Motorway from Lahore to Abdul Hakeem, the new toll will be Rs 650. Additionally, the M4 Motorway, which runs from Pindi Bhattian to Faisalabad and Multan, will see its toll increase from Rs 650 to Rs 850.
The new toll rates for the M1 and M4 Motorways are as follows:
Category | Old Tax | New Tax |
---|---|---|

Wagon up to 12 Seater | 550 | 720 |
13-24 Seater Coaster/Mini Bus | 700 | 910 |
Bus | 1000 | 1300 |
2 & 3 Axle Truck | 1300 | 1690 |

Category | Old Tax | New Tax |

This toll increase follows previous hikes across Pakistan’s highway network, including a raise in rates on the M2 Motorway between Lahore and Islamabad in August 2024. The ongoing adjustments have raised concerns among travelers as commuting costs continue to escalate.
Authorities have attributed the toll hikes to increasing operational costs and the need for continuous infrastructure maintenance. This initiative is also part of a broader government strategy aimed at enhancing tax collection from the highway sector amid the country’s financial challenges.
