Karachi: According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Karachi is likely to witness a further rise in temperatures starting today due to the formation of a high-pressure area in the upper atmosphere.
Intense heat expected to grip the city from Wednesday to Saturday.
The Met Office said the mercury could soar to 43°C during the period, while the feels-like temperature may touch 50°C, intensifying the impact of the heatwave-like conditions.
Reduced wind speeds may also lead to increased humidity, stuffiness and discomfort across the city.
At present, Karachi is experiencing hot and humid weather, with the current temperature recorded at 31°C. However, the heat intensity is being felt at around 37°C.
The PMD further stated that humidity levels stand at 74 percent, while westerly winds are blowing at a speed of 24 kilometres per hour.
