A Canadian man strapped on his in-line skates and rolled more than 6,200 kilometres across the country to increase bee conservation awareness and set a Guinness World Record.

Zach Choboter began skating on May 25 in Whistler, British Columbia, and landed in St. Johns, Newfoundland, on Monday, after travelling 6,271.5 kilometres across Canada.

Choboter stated that his cross-country “Blading for Bees” expedition was intended to raise awareness about climate change and the significance of bee protection.

Choboter also hoped to set a Guinness World Record, which he did unofficially a week before his voyage came to an end. Peter Bogelein of Germany set the current record for the longest distance covered on roller/in-line skates in 1986, covering 5,341.3 miles.
