NASA shared interesting facts about ‘Earth's Sister Planet’ Venus

Venus, the second planet from the Sun, is often referred to as Earth’s twin due to similarities in size, surface composition, and the presence of an atmosphere with a sophisticated weather system, to mention a few.

Many such fascinating facts about our neighbouring planets, their satellites, and other celestial space objects have come to our attention as a result of various space exploration programmes sponsored by leading space agencies.

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), among other autonomous space agencies throughout the world, is well-known for sharing updates, and space fans flock to their social media handles. The American space agency frequently shares spectacular images and fascinating details about our world and outer space.

One such recent post, honouring National Sibling Day on NASA Chandra X-ray Observatory’s Instagram feed, reveals the similarities and differences between the Blue Planet and our celestial neighbour.

The space agency’s message, which included photographs of the two planets, stated that “Earth and Venus” are like human sisters. NASA also stated that the two planets have “identical mass, size, and composition” and that their natures can clash violently because “Venus’ atmosphere would burn and crush us, while Earth is our perfect home.”

NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory’s recent post has received over 23,000 likes and counting. Their post also drew a slew of responses from others, who conveyed their feelings about it using emojis and words.

Aside from positive feedback, the post garnered a few amusing answers. One said, “How does an observatory on Earth get a photo of Earth?” “Then my brother would be Venus and I would be Earth,” stated another.
