Popular Amazon series Mirzapur 2 faces backlash from Mirzapur’s ministers over ‘spreading ethnic disharmony’.
The Apna Dal MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur district has demanded a ban on the popular series.
The MP has claimed that the series was allegedly defaming the image of the city by portraying it as a “violent” region.
She told the reporters that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Mirzapur “is a ‘center of harmony’ and the matter must be investigated and strict action taken against those responsible for sullying its image”.
‘Mirzapur 2’ is a sequel of the renowned series Mirzapur that involves stories of conflicts on families, politics, and elections.
It features Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi Ali Fazal, and Divyendu Sharma in the primary roles.
Pankaj Tripathi, who played Kaleen Bhaiyya, gave an interview to a local news source.
He was asked if he expected Mirzapur’s big success. “No, not at all. I liked the story and was sure we’d make a good show but I never expected it to become so popular,” he said.
He was also asked what the audience can expect from season 2 of ‘Mirzapur’.
