Bollywood superstar and wife of Nick Jonas, Priyanka Chopra is one of the most prominent personalities across the world.
While the actress basks in fame and glory, her journey to where she is now was full of obstacles as revealed by her in an interview on ‘Skimm’d from The Couch.’
The ‘Quantico’ actress spoke about how she was asked to leave a film set once by a producer. It was after she expressed her views on getting underpaid as compared to the other male actors.
Priyanka reported how the producer told her to could “take the paycheck which was nominal compared” to the salary her male costars received.
“There’s so many other girls who will take this opportunity. And, you know, women in movies are interchangeable,” the 38-year-old actress said.
“I didn’t do anything about it. “I had to work within the system because that’s what we’re told, that, ‘You know, if you want this job … this is the only way.’”
“It took almost 15 years for me to get to that place where, you know, I could stand my ground. It took hearing the conversations from other women banding together to give me the confidence to stand up for myself,” she said.
