However, what many people don’t know is that Ranveer’s grandmother, Chand Burke was a successful actress of her time, and she started her Hindi film career with Raj Kapoor’s ‘Boot Polish’.
In this 1954 motion picture, Chand Burke played the role of the aunt of two orphans and one of these children, Baby Naaz, was mentioned a lot at the 1955 Cannes Film Festival.
After this film, Ranveer’s grandmother continued to play background character roles in films during the 50’s and 60’s. She was not only a Hindi actress but she was also a well-known actress in Punjabi films before the partition of India and Lahore, where she was born. Chand Burke was also quite famous for dancing in films.
She belonged to a Christian family and had a second marriage with Ranveer‘s grandfather, with whom she had two children, daughter Tonya and son Jagjit Singh Bhavnani, Ranveer’s father.
