Lady of Punjab Governor House Begum Perveen Sarwar has said that every woman has skills and leadership qualities but all lack of unity & guidance to the right direction is hampering their economic growth. If we are united and set right direction, we can achieve much more for our country and for ourselves as well.
She was speaking at a seminar on “Significance of Women Empowerment in Islamic System” organized by LCCI standing committee on Women Entrepreneur Development Resource Centre & Women Advocacy Forum at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry. LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, Senior Vice President Ali Hussam Asghar, Convener of the Standing Committee on Women Entrepreneurs Development, Resource Center and Advocacy Forum Tabassum Anwar, LCCI EC members Ms. Uzma Shahid, Amir Anwar, Chairperson Adab Sarai Dr. Shehnaz Muzammil, Ms. Nabila Intesar and other experts spoke on the occasion while a large number of women entrepreneurs attended the event.
Begum Governor said that only woman can stand for women and their rights. All segments of society should support our women so that they can get a better standard. She said that women should be encouraged to take part in trade and economic activities.
“We have established “Hunar Gah”, in rural areas of Punjab in 2014 and since then more than 10000 women have been trained and they established their own small businesses. She briefed the participants about the projects undergoing including Hepatitis control campaign across the province water filtration plants installation in different areas especially in hospitals.
LCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that importance of women empowerment should be realized. Islam has raised the status of women from below the earth to so high that paradise lies at her feet. He said that women empowerment is one of the most vital issues which should be addressed on priority. It holds the key for the betterment of our families, society and ultimately the economy of country.

The LCCI President said that we terribly lack in creating the much needed awareness about determining the fair status of women in our society that is badly entangled in many social taboos. We should not forget that women are almost 51% of our total population. How can we afford to let this potential workforce remain out of productive activities?
The LCCI Senior Vice President Ali Hussam Asghar said that women empowerment is an understood reality of the world. It is indeed an accepted actuality which cannot be denied under any circumstances. He said that empowering women is like empowering the society.
Convener of the Standing Committee Tabassum Anwar gave a detailed introduction of a web portal ‘saleker.com’ for the women entrepreneurs to sale there products online. The seminar was actually its first convention. She briefly elaborated the road map of the program. She said that agenda of the program is to make Policy reforms, Managing campaigns for a tax-free zone for women members where they can enjoy more profitability, organize seminars, webinars, and workshops for boosting managerial, communication, IT, and business skillsets in them.
Tabassum Anwar further stated that training on leadership is also a part of this road map. This program will focus on polishing member entrepreneurs’ skills to advance in global business affairs. She said that our women develop great products with ultimate finesse, but a majority of them lack selling tools. We are introducing a dynamic BHIVE plan for incubating these women entrepreneurs. The credentials of which are kept confidential.
