The World Bank Mission has visited Punjab from February 10 to February 14.
In which mission representatives met with the heads of various departments including Director General Punjab Land Records Authority Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, Senior Member Board of Revenue Punjab Babar Hayat Tarar for the preparation of the project.
Stakeholders Conference on Computerization of Urban Land Records was held today at Punjab Land Records Headquarter.
The conference consisted of two phases. The first phase was attended by the Local Government, Finance, Excise and Taxation, Co-operative, Housing and Urban Development, representatives of the law department and the Secretary Colony Board of Revenue Punjab.
The second phase was attended by LDA, FDA, MDA, GDA, DG Katchi Abadi, Urban Unit, Director Punjab Economics Research, Chief PITB, Member Sparco, Administrator DHA.
The purpose of organizing the conference is to prepare for the Urban Land Record Project.
The World Bank briefed on the progress made in the project so far, including the expected project, various parts of the project including parcel mapping, procedures and first registration.
Participants presented suggestions on expected potential challenges and various solutions to the Urbanland Computerization Project.
Representatives of the Excise and Taxation and Cooperative Department said they had a record of constructed areas and were ready to provide all records.
Various aspects social safeguards of the project were also considered in the workshop.
The World Bank Mission emphasized the importance of providing social protection, including the protection of property rights of the people.
Participants said that the Conference on Urban Land Records Computerization is useful and will be helpful in proposing solutions to potential problems during project preparation.
