The federal government is preparing to hike the prices of petroleum products from January 1 2021.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has sent a summary of the increase in prices of petroleum products to the Petroleum Division. According to sources, OGRA’s summary has proposed to increase the price of petrol by Rs 2.96 per litre.
According to sources, the government is considering raising the price of high-speed diesel by Rs 3.12 per litre, while it is also proposed to increase the price of kerosene and light diesel. The finance ministry will announce the new prices tomorrow.
It may be recalled that just 15 days ago, on December 15, the prices of petroleum products were increased by Rs. 5 per litre.
According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry, the price of petrol is currently Rs 103.69 per litre. On the other hand, high-speed diesel is being sold at Rs 108.44 after an increase of Rs 3, while kerosene was increased by Rs 5 to Rs 70.29.
The price of light diesel oil has also been fixed at Rs 67.86 per litre after an increase of Rs 5.
