Vegetable exports hit record high of 82.88%
ISLAMABAD: The exports of vegetables during the first two months of FY 2021/22 grew 82.88 per cent, compared with the exports during the corresponding period of the last year.
During the period from July-August 2021, vegetables worth $38.276 million were exported, compared with $ 20.929 million during the same period of the last year.
According to the data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the exports of tobacco increased 48.51 per cent to $5.195 million, compared with the exports of $3.498 million during the same period of the last year.
Meanwhile, the exports of fruits increased 23.49 per cent, fruits worth $87.398 million were also exported in the current financial year, compared with the exports of $70.772 million during the same period of the last year.
During the period under review, all other food items’ exports decreased 81.68 per cent, as food items of $151.143 million were exported in the current fiscal year, compared with the exports of $183.192 million during the same period of the last year.
