LAHORE: The economic policies of the Punjab government are yielding positive results, an official said.
Speaking at the inauguration of Huner Rozgar Mela 2021, Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal appreciated the cooperation of the EU, Norwegian government and German institution in promoting quality technical education in the province.
The minister said the syllabus of technical institutes has been revised to meet the modern requirements and needs of the industry.
Foreign companies were making Rs600 billion investment in the cement sector, he said, adding that eight no objection certificates (NOCs) have been issued for setting up new cement plants.
Punjab is the only province where sugar and flour are cheaper, he said, adding: “Everywhere in Punjab, sugar is available at Rs90/kg, while a 20kg flour bag is available at Rs1,100.” Sugar mafia is spreading misleading information regarding the quality of imported sugar.
“There is no difference in the sweetness and quality of imported sugar,” he said.
MNA Andleeb Abbas, Tevta chairman Ali Salman Siddique, Tevta chief adviser Usman Khan and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Mian Nauman Kabir attended the ceremony.
