ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Revenue chairman Dr Muhammad Ashfaq Ahmed has emphasised on the scope of qualitative performance of officers and officials to promote a culture of efficiency, transparency and integrity within the apex tax body.
Chairing a detailed meeting held on Wednesday at the FBR headquarters to review the proposals for performance allowance, he issued directives that only those who maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and exhibit outstanding performance should be rewarded, while the laggards and poor performers should not be recommended for the award of performance allowance.
Ahmed also directed the administration and HR Wing of the FBR to put forth a comprehensive proposal to bring the performance allowance at par with other federal government departments so that the high achievers are duly compensated for their exceptional performance.
He also emphasised on the need to promote fairness and merit to encourage the FBR team in maintaining the highest standards of moral integrity and professional conduct.
A belt tightening exercise was of paramount importance to make a strong case for the financial and administrative autonomy of the revenue board, he said.
Member (Admin/HR), S A to FBR chairman and chief of FATE also attended the meeting; wherein Aisha Farooq, chief of T&D, gave a detailed presentation on the existing and proposed revised draft of the Performance Allowance Guidelines, 2015.
