Thousands of interested sightseers who have driven or walked by the Cottonland Castle at 3300 Austin Ave. will be able to go inside for a look beginning late next month, as Magnolia will provide guided tours for $50.

Magnolia founders Joanna and Chip Gaines’ refurbished stone mansion will be open for visits from July 21 through October 29, with tickets available now at magnolia.com/events.

And the day may be approaching for anyone who wants to acquire the castle outright.

“Eventually, the house will be made available for purchase under existing residential zoning laws for the neighborhood,” the press release announcing the tours says.

The Gaineses’ purchase price for the home in 2019 was not disclosed, but it was marketed at $425,000 and had a tax evaluation of $350,700 at the time. For tax purposes, it is now valued at $1,127,470.

The visits will focus on the history of the castle as well as the design features of the Gaineses’ refurbishment.
