The Lahore city administration has announced a significant reduction in the prices of bakery bread, commonly known as double roti, following a decline in wheat rates.

Deputy Commissioner Raifa Haider stated that the price of a 750-gram bread loaf has been set at Rs180, down from the previous Rs220 to Rs230 in Lahore. Additionally, the price of the smaller 400-gram bread loaf has been reduced to Rs90. These new prices are effective immediately.

The decline in wheat prices has led to reductions in the cost of various items. Recently, the provincial government lowered the price of “Tandoori roti” to Rs15 per loaf.

Furthermore, the Utility Stores Corporation announced a decrease in ghee prices, effective from Tuesday, May 28.

The new subsidized price for ghee is Rs375 per kilogram, a reduction of Rs18, while non-subsidized ghee is priced at Rs445 per kilogram.

Families registered under the Benazir Income Support Program will benefit from the subsidized ghee price of Rs375 per kilogram, while regular consumers will pay Rs445 per kilogram.
