Chicken prices surge in Quetta
Broiler chicken meat prices are on the rise across the country. In Quetta, chicken meat has increased by Rs 15 to Rs 680 per kg, with live chicken now at Rs 480 per kg.
Over the past week, chicken prices in Quetta have surged by Rs 220 per kg. Citizens are calling on the district administration to take measures to control these prices.
However, chicken sellers attribute the price hike to a suspension of supply from Punjab, causing a shortage and subsequent price increases.
Conversely, chicken meat prices in Lahore have seen a slight decrease. Chicken meat is now Rs 594 per kg, a reduction of Rs 3 per kg, while live chicken prices have dropped by Rs 2 per kg.
The wholesale rate of live broiler chicken is Rs 396 per kg, and the retail rate is Rs 410 per kg.
Previously, chicken meat was priced at Rs 597 per kg, with the wholesale rate of live broiler chicken at Rs 398 per kg and the retail rate at Rs 412 per kg.
These fluctuations highlight the varying trends in chicken meat prices across different regions, driven by supply issues and market dynamics.
