The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports issues passports to Pakistani citizens so they can travel abroad with ease as it is an international requirement.
A citizen, who holds a valid Pakistan passport, when in a foreign country, is entitled to the protection of the diplomatic and consular representative of Pakistan in that country.
A passport is the only document that confirms the identity of the citizen abroad of Pakistan, as well as, realizes his/her right to exit from the country and entry into the country.
Pakistani nationals, who are acquiring the passport for the first time, are required to visit the relevant passport office or foreign mission to submit an application for the travel document.
As of August 2024, the new fee for a standard 36-page passport for 5 years now stands at Rs 4,500, while the urgent processing fee has increased from Rs5,000 to Rs7,500.
For a 10-year validity period, the fee for a 36-page passport has been increased to Rs 6,700, with the urgent fee rising to Rs 11,200.
For a 72-page passport for 5 years, people will have to pay Rs 8,200 for normal processing and Rs 13,500 for urgent processing. For a 100-page passport valid for 10 years, the new fee surged to Rs12,400 for regular processing and Rs20,200 for urgent processing.
