ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia are preparing to launch a trial freight train service aimed at boosting trade between the two countries in the near future.
Federal Energy Minister Owais Leghari made the announcement, highlighting the strengthening economic and political ties between Pakistan and Russia.
Leghari emphasized that the initiative aligns with Pakistan’s national interests, stating that the country’s relationship with Russia is independent of external influences. He described the partnership with Moscow as beneficial for Pakistan, affirming that it is guided by Pakistan’s own autonomous foreign policy.
Rejecting any attempts to frame Pakistan-Russia relations within the context of East-West geopolitics, Leghari underscored that Pakistan remains open to cooperation with all nations for mutual benefit. He also highlighted the ongoing support from Russia and China, which is contributing to Pakistan’s broader development objectives.
The trial freight train service is expected to enhance trade and connectivity between Pakistan and Russia, marking a significant milestone in their bilateral ties and creating promising opportunities for future collaboration.
