Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, unveiled an ambitious plan to distribute 100,000 e-bikes and award 50,000 scholarships to students by 2026. The announcement was made during a ceremony at Okara University, where CM Maryam also distributed scholarship cheques among students.

In a heartfelt interaction, students presented portraits and photographs to the Chief Minister as tokens of appreciation. Speaking at the event, Maryam Nawaz termed the Talented Students Scholarship Programme as the largest educational initiative in Pakistan’s history.

“I’m here to speak my heart and to listen to the students,” she said, underlining her dedication to promoting education.

She lauded Education Minister Rana Sikander Hayat for his outstanding work, stating, “He is doing an excellent job. Like a good student, he takes criticism but continues to deliver results.”

The Chief Minister revealed that 100,000 students across Punjab would receive e-bikes by 2025, with 30,000 students being awarded scholarships this year and the number increasing to 50,000 next year.

“These scholarships are not acts of charity but recognition of students’ merit and potential,” she emphasized, assuring strict adherence to merit-based selection without any political or recommendation-based bias.

Further announcements included the establishment of Okara Medical College by 2025 and the arrival of the first shipment of laptops under the student support scheme. The initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to empowering students and enhancing access to quality education.
