PIA begins preparations for resumption of UK flights
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated preparations to resume flight operations to the United Kingdom.
According to details, the UK’s Department for Transport (DFT) is expected to complete its audit of Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), a key step towards reviving direct flights between the two countries.
Following positive indications, PIA is actively working on restoring operations and securing slots at Heathrow Airport, with plans to resume services from Terminal 4. Additionally, the airline is preparing to launch direct flights to Manchester and London by mid-March.
Sources further revealed that PIA intends to deploy its Boeing 777 aircraft for UK operations, while also strategizing expansion into various European destinations.
Earlier, on January 10, PIA successfully resumed flights to European nations after a four-and-a-half-year hiatus, with a flight landing at Charles de Gaulle (CDG) Airport in Paris. The arrival was warmly welcomed by Charge d’Affaires Huzefa Khanum, alongside PIA officials and members of the Pakistani diaspora.
Speaking on the occasion, Charge d’Affaires Huzefa Khanum hailed the resumption of flights as a significant development for overseas Pakistanis, emphasizing its role in strengthening ties between Pakistan, France, and the European Union through trade, tourism, and business exchanges.
