The number of positive coronavirus cases in Pakistan has surged to 139,230 with 2632 fatalities.

According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), record 6,825 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours.

According to the national dashboard, 771 new cases were recorded in Islamabad, 51 in GB and 30 new cases in AJK in the past 24 hours.

The country’s death toll also climbed to 2,632 after new deaths were reported in Islamabad and AJK.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Till now 52,601 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 51,518 in Sindh, 17,450 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 8,028 in Balochistan, 7,934 in Islamabad, 1,095 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 604 in Azad Kashmir.

Patients are under treatment at quarantine centers of 462 hospitals where 7,295 beds are available.

SOP violations

During last 24 hours more than 13116 violations of health guidelines/instructions observed across Pakistan.

More than 1541 markets/shops, 33 industries and 1429 transports were cautioned/fined/sensitised/sealed.

In Islamabad Capital Territory, 44 hotels, 120 shops and 7 industrial units were closed over 255 SOP violations.

79 employees at police training centre test positive

At least 79 employees at the Saeedabad police training centre in Karachi have tested positive for the coronavirus, Principle Shaukat Khatyal said on Sunday. According to Khatyal, the infected include two DSPs, an SP, inspectors and sub-inspectors.

He added, more than 400 officers and officials are enrolled at the training station at the moment.
