The accountability court has given orders to arrest the former Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former finance minister Muftah Ismail and send them to jail.

However, the court has rejected the request of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to extend the remand period.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has submitted his statements consisting of 9 pages.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi stated that NAB wants to make witnesses to two officials by threatening them. He also added that his family members, friends, and few officials are being threatened through phone calls. NAB members have made a “Banana republic”.

He further added that NAB first arrests the people and then designs a ‘case’ against them, the court can enable further remand to NAB if they want. Chief justice has also discussed political engineering.

Accountability court judge Muhammad Bashir said while giving his remarks that no further remand will be ordered this time.

The court has ordered arrest both the accused on judicial remand. Similarly, the court has also ordered to arrest the former MDPSO Imran ul Haq.

The court has called all the three accused on 11th October 2019.

Apart from that, NAB has denied all the news related to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi. They also added that Khaqan was not tortured and was only presented to the court on completion of the remand.

NAB has further stated that Shahid has never complained regarding such matters. NAB also made it confirm that they enquire the matters professionally.
