Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi holds a special session to mark the 150th anniversary of Mirza Ghalib during the 12th International Urdu Conference.

Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah and other prominent poet and writer were present along with the President Arts Council Muahmmad Ahmed Shah in the opening ceremony.

The session was chaired by the renowned writer Shameem Hanafi from India, while Dr. Naman-ul-Haq and Tehseen Firaqi presented their thesis. The duties of the moderator were performed by famous poetess Nasra Zubairi.

In his speech, Shamim Hanafi said that Ghalib is a poet who has been universally accepted, we ignore many things while looking in the East and West, there is no poet like Ghalib in India till now.

Ghalib’s poetry inspires the adversities of the times. There are hundreds of layers in it. Ghalib wrote a lot before the age of thirty. He wrote two thousand seven hundred and forty couplets before his thirty years but he wrote less after his thirty.

Later, the eminent broadcaster  Zia Mohyeddin read the poems of Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib from Diwan e Ghalib.

On this occasion, a large number of participants were present to hear Zia Mohyeddin.

Famous artist Sheema Karmani also displayed her dance performance in the end.

It should be noted that on Thursday, December 5, the four-day Twelfth International Urdu Conference started, which will end on Sunday, December 8.
