Education Minister of Sindh, Saeed Ghani said today (Aug 6) that the private body cannot take any decision on reopening of schools, the final decision will be made by the government.

According to the details, the education minister announced that the final decision on reopening of schools lies with the government and if the health officials are not satisfied with coronavirus situation then the schools may not reopen from September 15, 2020.

The minister further said that the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has decided that schools should not reopen from August 15.

Saeed Ghani asked, “When adults and people of mature age are not following SOPs, how can we have that same expectation from school going children?”

Earlier, Private Schools Association has decided to reopen the educational institutions across Sindh from August 15 during a meeting of the committee.

Pervez Haroon, the head of the Private Schools Action Committee said that the patience level has crossed the limits. With the joint decision of National Education Conference Islamabad, schools are scheduled to reopen from August 15. The independence day of Pakistan will be celebrated with simplicity. Students will sing the national anthem in the school and wave the national flag.

“School owners and teachers are committing suicide, but the government does not care. The federal and provincial governments have not informed our institutions. Many school owners have started working hard,”  said Pervez Haroon.

During the meeting, 74%people were in favor of opening the schools.
