The Annual Examinations 2020 result of class X (Matric) has been declared by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Saturday. Under the newly introduced grading system, the result show a pass percentage of 71.51.
The Chairman of BISE, Prof. Riaz Hashmi, announced that 169,596 out of 237,149 cleared the examinations.
This year, no position holders were announced. In order to ensure that no student is deprived of his or her right, the Punjab government had decided to award the grading system in matric and intermediate examinations.
According to the details, 166,364 candidates appeared in the Science Group out of which 132,678 students cleared the examinations with the pass percentage of 79.75.
With a pass percentage of 52.16, 70785 candidates had appeared in the Humanities Group, only 36918 were successful in clearing the exams.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the practical examination of the matric students was not conducted in the province of Punjab. To even out the marks, the Punjab board had awarded marks in the practical examination proportionate to the marks in theory. Students who had got 96 percent marks, in theory, were awarded full marks in the practical, whereas, other students were awarded 50 percent of the marks.
According to the new grading system for this year, students who secured 880+ marks have been awarded A+ grades, the other students who had secured less than 440 marks are placed in E grade. Students who achieved 770-879 marks are awarded A grade, 660-769 are awarded B grade. Students who bagged 440-549 marks have been given D grade, and candidates with 550-659 marks are awarded C grade.
