Pakistani actor Ahmed Ali Akbar has won ‘Best Actor’ award at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival for his performance in a critically acclaimed Pakistani film ‘Laal Kabootar’.
The actor shared the news through his Instagram with a caption, “Truly honored to have won Best Actor at Washington DC South Asian Film Festival for Laal Kabootar”.
Karachi-based crime thriller, ‘Laal Kabootar’ has also been selected as Pakistan’s official entry for the upcoming Academy Awards 2020.
The Academy will choose final nominees for all award categories in December this year.
Directed by Kamal Khan, the film received rave reviews by the critics and was also praised by the masses when released in March this year.
Laal Kabootar was recently selected as Pakistan’s official entry to the Oscars this year.
A Karachi-based crime thriller, Laal Kabootar chronicles the life of a woman setting out to avenge the murder of her husband.
Ahmed Ali Akbar was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He is the son of legendary Pakistani tennis coach Muhammad Ali Akbar.
Moreover, Akbar played tennis on a national level before proceeding to his film and television career.
Besides tennis, he also played cricket and football at club level.
On work front, Ahmed Ali can be currently seen on small screen in much-hyped drama series ‘Ehd-e-Wafa’.
The drama has star studded cast including Ahmed Ali Akbar, Ahad Raza Mir, Osman Khalid Butt and Wahaj Ali.
