Google’s Doodle paid tribute to the chocolate hero Waheed Murad on his 81’st birthday.
Waheed Murad, the great film actor, producer and script writer who charmed the Pakistani cinema with his expressions, attractive personality, tender voice and unusual acting talent was born on October 2, 2038 in Karachi.
He graduated from the S.M. Arts College Karachi, and then earned a master’s degree in English literature from University of Karachi.
He started working as a producer at his father’s established ‘Film Art’ in 1961. As producer, his first film was Insaan badalta hai in 1961.
Waheed Murad was the finest romantic hero of who brought grace and style to Pakistani cinema started his film career in a cameo in 1959 in the film Saathi when he was 21 years old.
He acted in 125 feature films and earned 32 film awards and one of his films, Armaan, which was produced by him, was a great success. The made a pivotal impact on the sub-continental film industry such that the Pakistani film industry was considered as the rising star and the film made him a superstar overnight.
He won many awards for recognition of his services to the film industry while in November 2010, 27 years after his death, he was awarded with Sitara-e-Imtiaz for distinguished contributions in the fields of literature and arts. He died on November 23 1983 in Karachi.
He is considered one of the most famous and influential actors of South Asia. The world gave him loving title of ‘Chocolate Hero’.
